A congressional resolution, proposed by U.S. Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton, would honor Manassas' upcoming 150th anniversary. MANASSAS, VA — A resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives would congratulate the City of Manassas for its upcoming 150th anniversary. Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton announced the proposal on Wednesday in advance of the official anniversary on April 1. The city began in its current form in 1873. The Virginia General Assembly decided to incorporate the area, then known as Manassas Junction, near the intersection of several railroad lines.
