Springfield's Safford Automotive has purchased Fairfax's Brown Automotive Group in one of the largest dealership transactions in the country this year. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Brown execs are expected to join Safford's management team and the combined organization will take the name Safford Brown Automotive Group, according to reports. With the acquisition, Safford adds Brown's 14 franchised car dealerships, one used-car outlet and a muscle and classic car shop to its roster. All of Brown's locations are in Virginia and Maryland.
